MANILA, Philippines - Hong Kong authorities have stepped up their investigation into the death of Filipino housemaid Vicenta Flores, whose body was found in the waters off Tung Chung New Development Pier in Hong Kong last 11 April, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Saturday.
The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong reported to the DFA that they made representations to authorities, and referred potential witnesses to police investigating the case of the 32-year-old victim from Batangas.
"We are constantly coordinating with Hong Kong authorities to obtain updates on their ongoing investigation into the case and to formally convey to those authorities the wishes of the relatives of the deceased," said Philippine Consul General Alejandrino Vicente in a statement.
“When the consulate receives new information, it always informs Vicenta's next-of-kin both in Hong Kong and in the Philippines," he added
Vicente said that the consulate has been assisting the victim’s sister, Irene Flores-Reguis, since her arrival in Hong Kong last 16 April.
"I urge people with direct personal knowledge of events that may have led to Vicky's death to come out and give Hong Kong authorities their factual statements. This is one way we can help to find answers to lingering questions concerning the case," Vicente appealed. - GMANews.TV
